After the conclusion of the European Championship, former England star John Terry gave an interview to a television station in front of his trophy cabinet. However, this scene caused significant dissatisfaction among British fans, especially since the England team had just lost the final. Some fans even speculated that Terry had purchased replicas of the trophies.
Although Terry never won any honors with the England national team, he achieved numerous accolades during his time at Chelsea. The scene of Terry giving an interview after the European Championship final, however, sparked discontent among fans.
Terry was interviewed in front of his trophy cabinet, but given the context of England’s failure to win the championship, fans were particularly harsh, “He sits in front of his trophies for an interview? What a bastard! Are these replicas he bought with his own money?”
In the interview, Terry expressed his hope that Southgate would remain as the manager of the England team, “I am very pleased with what Southgate has done for the players. I think his tactics are sound, and he has built a very united team.”
Following the end of the European Championship, Southgate declined to comment on his future, stating, “Now is not the time to discuss this issue. I understand the public’s thoughts, but losing the final is extremely painful.”
Despite losing the European Championship final, many England players, including Jude Bellingham, have shown strong support for Southgate.
