Spanish Media: Real Madrid Booed and Abandoned by Home Fans, Leaving Early Before Match Ends

On the night of November 6, Beijing time, Real Madrid suffered a 1-3 home defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has been somewhat delicate recently. The team’s performance this season has started to disappoint the fans here. Particularly during the match against AC Milan, several critical moments caused fluctuations in the fans’ emotions. For instance, when the Italian side scored their first goal, the name of Aurélien Tchouaméni was met with boos. Even Vinícius Júnior, usually a fan favorite, failed to receive support when he raised his arms on the field, appealing for encouragement from the stands, which remained silent.

Typically, the fans at the Bernabéu are known for their optimism. Even when the team is at a disadvantage, they firmly believe that a miracle can happen. However, this time, when AC Milan led 3-1 with only about 15 minutes left in the game, the fans began an early exodus. This was not the familiar Bernabéu; the fans were clearly dissatisfied with the team’s performance. At certain stages of the match, protests against the team’s performance could be heard, especially when the team seemed less proactive in transitioning between defense and attack.

Although Real Madrid has often staged comebacks in the final moments of matches in the past, this time, the fans seemed to have lost faith and left early before the match concluded.

After the match, Nacho Fernández spoke about the fans’ boos, particularly those directed at Tchouaméni, saying, “We really need to take responsibility for the fans. The fans at the Bernabéu are the best. We will fight until the last moment.”

Real Madrid had just suffered a heavy blow from Barcelona and now lost to Milan. If the team does not make changes, the Bernabéu could become a pressure cooker. However, the good news is that the team has a relatively easier schedule ahead. Apart from facing Osasuna this weekend, they will not play a tough home match until December 1 against Getafe, and their next major challenge will be against Sevilla on December 22. This period might provide the team with the opportunity to adjust and regain the fans’ hearts.
