AC Milan is about to face Real Madrid in the Champions League. Former Milan coach Sacchi revealed that he has recently received at least seven calls from current Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti was once a player and coach for Milan, and to Sacchi, he is not only a student but also an old friend. “Carlo is a very lovely person. These days, he has called me at least seven times. He is smart and humble, and these two qualities are perfectly embodied in him. He was the first player I recommended to Berlusconi, even though Milan was ranked fifth at the time and Berlusconi had some doubts. But I firmly believed that with Carlo, we could win the title immediately. The facts proved my judgment was correct.”
Facing the upcoming match, Sacchi is full of expectations for the Milan players: “I hope they can remember the glorious history of Milan; it is our pride. The spirit of the club is more important than any individual or team. I hope they will play with this sense of pride.”
Speaking of Milan’s forward Rafael Leão, who was recently benched by Fonseca in the league, but will return to the starting lineup tonight, Sacchi’s attitude is clear: “I treat all players equally. Back then, Van Basten was the best, but I never made any compromises. If I have to choose between a talented player and a reliable one, I prefer the reliable ones. I hope Fonseca can fully understand his players, not just their skills, but also their mental state. After all, no team can be strong without team spirit.”
