R.I.P! Former Luxembourg Women’s Soccer Coach Dies of Heart Attack While Watching Bayern-Benfica Match

On November 8, according to Luxembourg media RTL Today, former Luxembourg women’s soccer coach Roman Jean died of a heart attack while watching the Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Benfica on Thursday. He passed away en route to the hospital.

The incident occurred early in the first half of the match, when emergency medical action was initiated in the southeast section of the stadium. About an hour after the match ended, Bayern Munich club confirmed in a statement that Jean had unfortunately passed away on his way to the hospital.

The statement read: “FC Bayern Munich mourns with the family of this fan.” After the match, Bayern Munich head coach Kompany expressed his condolences: “We didn’t celebrate much after the match.” He noted that the players learned of Roman Jean’s passing when they returned to the locker room after the game.
