Recently, Arsenal legend Robert Pires appeared on a show and expressed his strong dissatisfaction with this year’s Ballon d’Or selection process, stating that Mohamed Salah should not have been left off the list of 30 candidates.
Pires said, “Salah is the best player in the Premier League. He has an excellent mental state, and the level of performance he displays does not surprise me at all, as he is one of the best players in European and world football.”
“Everyone knows he is the best player for Egypt’s national team, but his performances at Liverpool are truly the highlight. Salah has maintained such outstanding form for so many years, adapting to different tactical roles, scoring goals, and providing assists for his teammates. It is completely unfair that Salah was not included in the final list of 30 candidates for the Ballon d’Or.”
“This is not a loss for Salah, but a loss for the Ballon d’Or. It is also not Salah’s fault; it is entirely the problem of those journalists. Looking back over the years, many great players like Henry, Xavi, and Iniesta never won the Ballon d’Or. The fact that Salah is not on the candidate list only shows that these people do not understand football.”
