West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has dismissed the speculation in British media about his imminent dismissal, stating that although West Ham United has had a poor start to the season, he still has “plenty of time” to turn things around.
West Ham United has lost five of their first ten Premier League matches this season. Some reports suggest that Lopetegui’s position is precarious, and if the Hammers lose to Everton in Saturday’s league match, club owner David Sullivan will immediately reconsider Lopetegui’s role, potentially leading to his dismissal. However, the coach insists he does not feel any additional pressure.
“My relationship with Sullivan? I speak to him every week, and everything is fine,” Lopetegui said. “We both know what we talk about, but I won’t disclose the specifics. I discuss various aspects of the team with him every week, and this week is no different from any other.”
Lopetegui added, “From the first day I became a professional coach, I have always been under extra pressure. I know my job, I know what we are doing here and what we can achieve. I try to focus on the daily work and the next match, which is our primary responsibility as coaches and players. But I understand that we always work under pressure, and we must learn to accept it as part of the norm. However, I believe we still have plenty of time to change things and turn this difficult period into a positive one.”
