FA Official: Bentancur Banned for Racial Abuse of Son Heung-min

On November 18, the FA (Football Association) issued a statement officially announcing the punishment for Rodrigo Bentancur. He has been banned for seven matches due to making racially abusive remarks towards Son Heung-min.

Previously, in an interview, Bentancur stated, “All Asians look the same.” This comment was deemed to have racial overtones, leading the FA to charge him and ultimately decide on a severe penalty.

According to the schedule, this ban means that Bentancur will miss several of Tottenham’s domestic matches until after Christmas. During this period, he will only be eligible to play in Europa League matches for Tottenham.

The matches Bentancur will miss are as follows:

November 24: Manchester City vs Tottenham

December 1: Tottenham vs Fulham

December 6: Bournemouth vs Tottenham

December 9: Tottenham vs Chelsea

December 16: Southampton vs Tottenham

December 20: Tottenham vs Manchester United (Carabao Cup Quarter-Final)

December 23: Tottenham vs Liverpool
