Following England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark, former England player Stuart Pearce shared his thoughts, suggesting that Harry Kane should be dropped from the current starting lineup.
Pearce remarked, “We’re all watching England closely, and the lineups for the last two games have been pretty much as we predicted. But I think adjustments might be necessary without compromising the team’s strength. Southgate is in a tough spot now, wondering if changes could make things worse rather than better.”
“Hard decisions might need to be made, like benching the captain, Kane. That’s my solution to the left-back issue. The left side lacks attacking threat, so let’s move Saka there. Then, introduce Walton as a defensive midfielder in place of Rice, freeing him up to push further forward. This could allow Rice to operate more effectively.”
“The next match is almost like an experimental game, so changes can be trialed. I’d personally rest Kane to inject more energy into the team and assess if this setup suits us before the knockout stages.”
