Recently, Barcelona announced that Flick would officially succeed Xavi as the team’s head coach. Former renowned manager Schuster shared his thoughts on his fellow German during a golf event.
Schuster remarked, “Generally, we Germans have always had a liking for Spanish clubs, at least initially. Flick is a coach who knows what it takes to lead a great team. He had an incredible season at Bayern, and perhaps his team was even stronger than Barcelona at that time.”
However, Schuster expressed his view that changing the head coach wouldn’t address Barcelona’s current issues. “In my opinion, Barcelona’s problems don’t lie with the coach. No matter how often you change, no one can really solve this problem. It’s an issue with the entire team. You need to have players capable of genuinely competing at the highest level.”
