This summer, Zirkzee transferred to Manchester United for £36.5 million, which caused quite a stir in the Premier League, but apparently, he has not yet achieved the recognition he desires elsewhere.
Zirkzee once played for the giant Bayern Munich and after transferring to Bologna, he was poached by the prestigious Manchester United. In the early stages of the pre-season games after joining Manchester United, Zirkzee hoped to do some pre-season training. He went to a training ground called VV Hekelingen in the Netherlands with two friends to train, preparing for his arrival at Carrington.
However, the staff at the training ground did not seem to recognize this newly signed Manchester United star, and Zirkzee and his friends were denied entry by the caretaker.
The staff member, named Van Boeghout, said in an interview with the media later: “At that time, Zirkzee was speeding down the street in a Porsche, making a lot of noise, so I first told him to slow down because there were many children around. Then I denied his request to enter the training ground and sent him to train on the artificial turf next door. Two hours later, I found out it was Zirkzee.”
