According to the UK media outlet, The Record, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are interested in signing Danish international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Despite being 37 years old, Schmeichel is still in excellent form. This summer, he played all four games at the Euros, helping Denmark progress from their group. At club level, Schmeichel spent last season with Belgian side Anderlecht, and after his contract expired this summer, he became a free agent.
Following the retirement of Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart at the end of last season, the club is in need of a new goalkeeper. Considering that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers had a very successful stint working with Schmeichel at Leicester City, the team is also keen on bringing this experienced goalkeeper on board.
Per reports, Celtic have offered Schmeichel a one-year contract, and an official announcement regarding the deal may be made soon.
