On July 11, the second semi-final match of the Copa America is set to take place today. According to a report by American media ESPN today, US Men’s National Team (USMNT) head coach Gregg Berhalter has been dismissed. As the host nation in this edition of the Copa America, the USA under Berhalter’s guidance suffered elimination from the group stage with one win and two losses out of three matches.
The 50-year-old Berhalter officially took charge of the US national team in August 2023. During his tenure, he led the team through 14 games with seven wins, one draw, and six losses, achieving a win rate of only 50%. In friendly matches and official Copa America games since June, the US played five matches, winning one, drawing one, and losing three, with their sole victory coming against Bolivia.
It is worth noting that the current world ranking of the US men’s football team is 11th, with a total team value of as high as €340 million.
