The U.S. team has officially announced that men’s soccer coach Gregg Berhalter has been relieved of his duties. U.S. Soccer’s sporting director Matt Crocker will temporarily assume the role of head coach and begin the search for a suitable successor.
Crocker stated, “Our current focus is on finding a coach who can maximize our potential. We will continue to prepare for the 2026 World Cup, and we have already begun the search.”
Berhalter served as the U.S. team’s head coach from 2018 to 2022, announcing his resignation after the Qatar World Cup. However, he was soon invited back for a second stint, leading the U.S. team in the home-hosted Copa America, only for the host nation to be eliminated in the group stage.
