Although it is currently the international break, in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello discussed the upcoming match between Milan and Juventus after the break. Capello stated that Milan’s defense must be adjusted, otherwise, it will give Juventus’ attacking players opportunities.
Regarding Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, Capello was full of praise, “His movement is really outstanding, reminding me of Trezeguet. Of course, he needs to improve his coordination with his teammates, but he will be a key player in the Milan-Juventus clash. If Milan continues to use offside traps, it will leave Vlahovic with a lot of space.”
For the Milan-Juventus match, Capello believes that Milan is under more pressure, “If Milan lose, they will be further away from the title. Juventus are still unbeaten in the league, and if they win at San Siro, they will make a strong push for the league title. However, due to experience, I still think Inter are the favorites.”
Capello also gave advice to Milan’s defenders, “Their attention seems to be more on the ball’s movement rather than the opponents’ movements. In the penalty area, as long as they mark the opposing forwards, there won’t be any goals conceded.”
When asked which players he would sign if he were still coaching, Capello said, “Absolutely Riedewald and Kupmeiners, not just because they are Dutch players, but because they know how to play the game.”
When asked to choose between Milan forward Rafael Leão and Juventus forward Paulinho Conceição, Capello deftly avoided the question, “Although they are both Portuguese players, their characteristics are different. Conceição is very fast and has good movement. Leão has excellent physical attributes but lacks consistency and is only playing at about 75% of his potential.”
