This summer, Mats Hummels transferred to Roma, but after a poor debut, he was benched by the head coach. According to the Rome Sports Daily, Hummels is currently considering a return to the Bundesliga.
The report states that yesterday, Roma’s head coach Veljko Vujović announced the latest squad list at the hotel, and Hummels did not even make the bench. In September, then-Roma coach Daniele De Rossi signed Hummels at the last minute to bolster his defense, but De Rossi was soon dismissed, and Vujović took over. Since then, Hummels has not seen any playing time.
Vujović stated, “This is a technical decision. I always aim to field the best players for the match, and I believe every choice I make is correct. Cristante has performed well, but this does not mean Hummels will never play again.” However, the reality is that Hummels cannot even secure a place on the bench.
The Rome Sports Daily reports that in January, Hummels may consider a return to the Bundesliga, where several teams are already waiting for his decision.
