Jakarta – Jorge Martín, rider for Prima Pramac Racing Ducati, claimed victory in the 2024 MotoGP Sprint Race on Saturday, March 9th, at the Losail International Circuit.
Martín started from pole and maintained his lead without much interference throughout the 11-lap race. He had previously set a new track record during qualifying, putting pressure on Brad Binder.
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, despite starting from fourth on the grid, managed to climb to second place.
However, Binder was unable to overtake Martín and settled for second place in the 2024 Qatar MotoGP Sprint, finishing 0.548 seconds behind the winner.
Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia Racing secured third place in the sprint, completing the podium lineup. Starting from the second grid spot, he maintained his position until the end.
Francesco Bagnaia finished fourth, with the Ducati Lenovo Team rider and reigning 2023 MotoGP champion losing his position to Aleix Espargaro in the final laps.
Marc Márquez completed the top five in the Sprint Race. Making his debut with the satellite Ducati team Gresini Racing, the Spaniard was unable to challenge Espargaro and Bagnaia for the third step on the podium.
The main event of the 2024 Qatar MotoGP is scheduled for Monday, March 11th, at 00.00 WIB.
