The 19-year-old Turkish prodigy transferred from Fenerbahçe to Real Madrid in September last year. Due to an injury, he made his official debut in January. In his first season at Real Madrid, he played only 373 minutes but scored 6 goals in 10 league matches. He also performed well in the European Cup. During this summer’s transfer window, there was a brief rumor linking Guler to Tottenham, but it was quickly debunked.
Now, the situation has changed. Insiders within the Turkish national team point out that Guler is concerned about his reduced playing time at Real Madrid, which means Tottenham has the opportunity to reassess whether they can bring Guler to the club.
Turkish renowned coach Mustafa told HT Sports: “Arda (Guler) feels a bit out of place in the national team, which is quite normal. After returning from Real Madrid, he is no longer as spirited as before. He is not happy there. We know that his playing time at Real Madrid is limited, and the status of his competitors in the dressing room has risen.”
This season, Guler has made 12 appearances for Real Madrid, starting only 3 times. Mustafa believes that last season, Ancelotti was more willing to play Guler, when Real Madrid won both the La Liga and the Champions League. However, this season, a series of transfers have had a ripple effect, reducing Guler’s playing time, and Real Madrid’s performance has also declined. Mustafa added: “The team’s performance has dropped. Due to Guler’s current unhappiness at Real Madrid, Tottenham has the opportunity to assess the possibility of a potential move.
