November 21, 2024 – According to a report by the British media outlet The Mirror, citing information from the CIES Football Observatory, Manchester United and Chelsea rank first and second in the top ten global clubs with the highest net spending on transfers over the past decade. Real Madrid, however, does not make the list.
Over the past decade, Manchester United has frequently invested in new players, with a staggering net expenditure of £1.08 billion. However, the results have not been as impressive, with only two FA Cups, two League Cups, one Europa League title, and one Community Shield during this period. Chelsea, which ranks second with a net expenditure of £1.07 billion, has also struggled in recent years.
Manchester City, the dominant force in the Premier League over the past decade, ranks sixth in terms of net expenditure. It is quite surprising that Real Madrid does not even feature in the top ten.
1. Manchester United – £1.08 billion (€1.3 billion)
2. Chelsea – £1.07 billion (€1.2 billion)
3. Paris Saint-Germain – £825 million (€991 million)
4. Arsenal – £661 million (€795 million)
5. Tottenham Hotspur – £591 million (€711 million)
6. Manchester City – £585 million (€703 million)
7. AC Milan – £527 million (€633 million)
8. Newcastle United – £521 million (€626 million)
