On November 21, Italian legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon recently gave an exclusive interview to Corriere della Sera.
First appearance for the national team
Buffon said: “I was not yet 15 years old when they called me up to the U16 national team to play against Scotland in Edinburgh. It was my first time in a British stadium.”
Who is the strongest opponent you have faced?
Buffon stated: “I have faced three generations of players. How can I put it? Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta. If I must choose one: Neymar. From a player’s perspective, he should have won five Ballon d’Or awards.”
Not winning the Champions League with Juventus
Buffon said: “I experienced three Champions League finals. The Barcelona of 2015 and the Real Madrid of 2017 were the strongest teams of the past two decades. In 2003, we faced AC Milan, which had Shevchenko in his best form.”
