New York Times: Mbappé's Associates Deny Mental Health Issues, Deschamps' Continued Tenure May Halt His Return to French Team

On November 16, according to The New York Times, sources close to Kylian Mbappé have denied that he has any mental health issues.

This season, Mbappé’s performance with Real Madrid has fallen short of expectations, and he has been reported to have a conflict with France’s head coach Didier Deschamps. He has been left out of France’s Euro Nations League squad for the second consecutive time. During his vacation in Stockholm, Sweden, Mbappé was also implicated in a rape case.

According to earlier reports by L’Équipe, sources close to Mbappé claimed that he had been struggling with mental health issues for months. However, when The New York Times contacted sources close to Mbappé who spoke on condition of anonymity, they denied that he had any mental health problems.

After this international break, the French team will not reconvene until March next year. Some French media outlets have suggested that Mbappé may not return to the national team as long as Deschamps remains the head coach. However, both the president of the French Football Federation, Le Graët, and head coach Deschamps have denied these claims.

For the French team, if they want to challenge for the title at the 2026 World Cup, they cannot do without Mbappé’s significant contributions.
