A few days ago, FIFA announced the refereeing team for the opening match. Three referees from Japan, led by Yoshimi Yamashita, will oversee the match between the host nation New Zealand and Norway. Since then, FIFA has gradually released the first-round refereeing arrangements for other groups in the Women’s World Cup.
Notably, Xie Lijun, the only referee from China participating in this tournament, will serve as an assistant referee in the Group C match between Spain and Costa Rica.
According to FIFA, the main referee for this match is Casey Rebechi from the host nation Australia. International referee Xie Lijun from Chengdu will serve as an assistant referee alongside Ramina Chai from Kyrgyzstan. This will be Xie Lijun’s debut at the Women’s World Cup.
Prior to this, Xie Lijun revealed in an interview that she has prepared thoroughly in terms of mental and physical aspects and is looking forward to this major event. She arrived in Australia on July 8 to join the refereeing team and made ample preparations for her role.
