Former Turkish international defender, and former Dortmund and Leverkusen player, Tolgay Toprak, has officially announced his retirement at the age of 35.
Toprak made 35 appearances for Dortmund and 154 appearances for Leverkusen. After leaving Antalyaspor, Toprak did not find a new club and subsequently announced his retirement.
Toprak wrote on his personal social media: “Today, with mixed emotions, I announce this news. After 16 years as a professional footballer, I will be officially ending my playing career.”
“At Dortmund, I experienced the most electrifying home atmosphere in the Bundesliga and even around the world. At Leverkusen, I fulfilled my Champions League dream.”
