Harry Kane sets a Bundesliga record by scoring 50 goals in just 43 matches, leading Bayern Munich to a 3-0 victory over Augsburg with a stunning hat-trick.
Harry Kane etched his name in Bundesliga history by reaching 50 goals in record time, achieving the milestone with a hat-trick during Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Augsburg.
The England striker required three goals to hit the mark and delivered. He opened the scoring with a penalty in the 63rd minute, later adding two more in stoppage time.
Kane’s second goal also came from the penalty spot after Keven Schlotterbeck was penalized for a foul, earning a second yellow card and dismissal. The 31-year-old then secured his third with a header, capitalizing on an exceptional first touch to control the ball just before the final whistle.
Kane’s 50 goals in only 43 Bundesliga matches surpass the previous record of 50 in 50 games set by Erling Haaland during his time at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Manchester City.
Bayern Munich’s victory extended their unbeaten league run this season, with nine wins and two draws from 11 matches. They now lead the Bundesliga by eight points over Leipzig heading into the weekend fixtures.
“We knew it would be difficult to break them down. We knew we had to be patient,” Kane said to DAZN post-match. “At half-time that’s what we said, ‘we just have to keep doing what we’re doing’. Thankfully we got the penalty to open the game up and then did well to kill the game off.”
Kane has been prolific in his debut Bundesliga season, scoring 14 goals in 11 matches, including five penalties. “I work on them a lot,” he remarked. “They’re a big part of the game. They helped us again today. Of course, I’ve missed many at training, but that’s the time to miss them.”
This season has seen Kane break multiple records. He now has 20 goals across all competitions for Bayern, including four in a single Champions League match during their 9-2 rout of Dinamo Zagreb in September. That performance also made him the top English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history with 33 goals in 45 matches, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s record of 30. Kane remains the only English player to net four goals in a Champions League game.
Bayern’s dominance in both domestic and European competitions continues, with Kane playing a pivotal role in their success.
