On November 11, Beijing time, Hoffenheim announced that head coach Marco Matarazzo has been dismissed.
Following a goalless draw against Augsburg in the previous Bundesliga match, Hoffenheim’s record this season stands at just 2 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses, placing them 17th with 9 points, only 1 point above St. Pauli, who are in the relegation playoff spot.
Matarazzo, 46, retired in 2010 and previously served as a youth coach at Nuremberg. From 2017 to 2019, he was first employed by Hoffenheim, where he coached the U17 team and served as an assistant to the first team. Between December 2019 and October 2022, Matarazzo led Stuttgart in 100 matches.
In February 2023, Matarazzo returned to Hoffenheim as the head coach of the first team, leading the club in 67 matches with a record of 24 wins, 14 draws, and 29 losses.
