On November 13, Chinese time, football expert Ian Herbert of the Daily Mail published a column discussing the video exposure of Premier League referee Mike Dean (Coot) insulting former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. Herbert argues that Dean is no longer suitable for refereeing but also suggests that he is not the only referee who finds Klopp intolerable.
Recently, Premier League referee Mike Dean was caught on video using foul language to insult Liverpool FC and its former manager Jürgen Klopp, leading to his suspension.
In his column, Ian Herbert commented: “As part of the Premier League’s officiating team, Dean’s inflated ego led him to verbally abuse Klopp with profanity, which was recorded and exposed. He should no longer be involved in on-field officiating, as it would tarnish the sport. However, it is certain that he is not the only referee who harbors resentment and hatred towards Klopp. The relationship between referees and managers often involves mutual criticism, but referees are never allowed to publicly defend themselves.”
Herbert continued: “During his tenure, Klopp has sometimes been rude and aggressive, showing no mercy to anyone who provokes him and refusing to apologize even after offending them. This has made him hated and despised by many groups, such as journalists and referees. However, this might be why Klopp is always a winner; he constantly pushes boundaries and creates an electrifying atmosphere at home games, benefiting his team.”
