On June 16th, the ATP 250 Schenectady singles final concluded without incident. Top seed De Minaur showcased exceptional form, defeating American player Korda, ranked No. 7, with a score of 6-2, 6-4, securing his second career grass-court title.
In the beginning, De Minaur quickly gained momentum, seizing the lead after a strong stretch in which he won four consecutive games to win the first set 6-2. Although he momentarily slipped in the second set, recovering from a 5-2 advantage, De Minaur maintained control throughout and clinched the match with another break at the end, 6-4.
De Minaur previously clinched his first grass-court title at the ATP 250 Eastbourne event in 2021. Following this week’s victory, his live ranking has risen to World No. 7, and he will continue to compete in the ATP 500 Queen’s Cup, aiming to secure an eighth-seed spot for Wimbledon next week.
