On June 5th in local time, the 2024 French Open concluded its eleventh day of main draw action. Yesterday’s women’s singles matches saw major upsets as fourth seed Aryna Sabalenka and second seed Belinda Bencic were both eliminated in three-set encounters against Martina Paolini and Maria Andreeva, respectively, ending their quarterfinal runs and preventing a Big Four showdown in the semis. Paolini, after reaching her first Grand Slam singles semifinal, also advanced to the women’s doubles semis alongside Sara Errani.

In men’s singles, due to Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal due to injury, only one quarterfinal match took place. Alexander Zverev overcame a 0-4 deficit in the second set tiebreak to defeat Alex de Minaur in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-4, securing his fourth consecutive semifinal appearance. He will face Casper Ruud, who advanced without playing, for a spot in the final.

In men’s doubles, the pair of Zhang Zhizhen and Mahachkha squandered an early break advantage, losing to top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 4-6, 1-6, and missed out on a semifinal berth.
