On June 12th, local time, the second round of the ATP 250 Stuttgart Open took center stage. Fifth seed Jannik Sinner battled through a three-set marathon, featuring two tiebreakers, to defeat Krawietz 6(9)-7/7-6(5)/6-3, securing his second quarterfinal appearance of the season.
Sinner in action
In the opening set, both players held their serves tightly. Despite Sinner having breakpoint opportunities in the tenth and twelfth games, he was unable to capitalize on them. The set ultimately went into a tiebreak, where Krawietz seized his chance at 9-10 to clinch the first set.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with another tiebreak deciding the outcome. This time, Sinner learned from his earlier mistakes, winning 7-5 in the breaker to level the match. In the decisive third set, Sinner broke Krawietz’s serve twice, eventually prevailing 6-3 to complete the comeback and secure his spot in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, the Italian will face the winner of the encounter between Majerovic and third seed Bublik.
