On July 6th, local time, the 2024 Wimbledon Championships concluded its sixth day of main draw action. China’s sole remaining singles player, Wang Xinyu, continued her march forward, overcoming British wildcard Dart in a three-set thriller, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, to reach the fourth round of the women’s singles for the first time in her career. This is her second appearance in the second week of a Grand Slam after the 2023 US Open.
Wang Xinyu found herself on the brink at 2-6, 1-3, but managed to turn the tide despite Dart’s home advantage and grass court prowess. The Chinese player increased her aggression in the second set, eventually overcoming Dart in the late stages and saving breakpoints to level the match. In the decisive third set, down 0-3, Wang Xinyu rallied to win six consecutive games, setting a new personal best at this grass court major. She will next face 21st seed Svitolina, who ousted two-time finalist Jabeur.
