Murray
On July 3 local time, Wimbledon officials announced that former world number one Andy Murray will compete in the mixed doubles event, partnering with US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
The pair will enter the competition with a wild card, set to begin their campaign at the All England Club on Friday. Murray, recovering from back surgery, has withdrawn from the singles draw, but he will also join his brother Jamie Murray in the men’s doubles.
This will be Murray’s second appearance in the Wimbledon mixed doubles. In 2019, he partnered with another former world number one, Serena Williams, reaching the third round.
Raducanu
Like Murray, Raducanu is also a former US Open champion. In 2021, she stunned the tennis world by winning the title as a qualifier. Raducanu has already advanced to the second round of this year’s Wimbledon women’s singles, and the pairing of two British tennis stars hopes to shine in the mixed doubles competition.
