On June 11th (Beijing Time), Portugal’s head coach Martinez confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will feature in the friendly match against Ireland, emphasizing that the team still relies on his experience and goal-scoring ability.
During a press conference ahead of Portugal’s friendly with Ireland, Coach Martinez said, “In this game, Ronaldo, Pepe, and Dias will all play. Whether they start or not will depend on the training session. Both Pepe and Ronaldo bring invaluable experience, both on the pitch and in the locker room.”
High praise was given by Martinez to Ronaldo, “He has an experience that others don’t possess, knowing how to exploit space in the box and being a top finisher. Ronaldo played 51 matches this season, and while club football is different from international duty, he has shown he can still perform in a four-games-a-week rhythm. I see no issues with him, and we will assess this in the upcoming games.”
