On June 21, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) issued a statement confirming the dismissal of men’s national team head coach Rob Page.
The 49-year-old, during his tenure, led Wales to their first World Cup finals in 64 years and also guided the team to the knockout stages of the previous European Championship.
However, following Wales’ failure to qualify for the UEFA Euro in Germany and disappointing friendly results, including a goalless draw against Gibraltar and a 0-4 defeat to Slovakia this month, Page’s departure was inevitable.
According to BBC reports, the FAW’s senior officials had discussions for over a week before reaching a unanimous decision that a change was necessary.
