June 20th, according to Spanish media World Sports Daily, Barcelona will not reinforce their left-back position this summer.
With just over two weeks remaining until the start of Barça’s new season, the club is assessing its squad and searching for solutions to address planned signings. Uncertainty surrounds the addition of a left-back, as Marcos Alonso’s departure leaves Alejandro Balde as the sole option at that position. Head coach Xavi wants to strengthen there, but after meetings to finalize the roster, it was decided by the coaching staff and sports director Ferran Torres that priority goes to midfielders and wingers, not a left-back.
The Catalan giants have chosen to trust Alex Baile (20) and Alejandro Balde to carry the load. Born on April 25, 2004, Baile joined FC Barcelona in the 2014-2015 season. This summer, he has been loaned to Levante, similar to his stint with Andorra B last season. At Levante, Alex Valle has already played in 29 matches this year.
