In a recent Euro Cup D Group match, Austria defeated Poland 3-1, eliminating the latter while securing a more favorable position for themselves in the group of death.
Heading into the final group match against powerhouse the Netherlands, a victory would secure their spot in the Round of 16. However, Austria now faces a challenge – during the game against Poland, 32-year-old Feyenoord defender Trauner opened the scoring in the 9th minute but was forced off due to a thigh injury in the 59th minute of the second half.
If the seasoned defender is unable to play against the Netherlands, it will be a significant blow for Austria.
Trauner commented after the match, “I hope I can return to the team soon. My hamstring is fine, but another muscle feels uncomfortable. I hope it’s just a cramp, and we’ll see in the coming days.”
