On June 18, during England’s 1-0 victory over Serbia, Serbian fans were suspected of imitating monkey chants to insult English players, and UEFA has initiated an investigation into the incident.
In the opening match of Group C in the European Championship, England secured a 1-0 win against Serbia. However, an unpleasant incident occurred when a Serbian fan appeared to mimic monkey noises as a form of racial abuse towards the English national team players on the field.
The English players on the pitch did not hear the alleged chants, and the Football Association of England (FA) did not file a complaint or protest with UEFA. It is reported that the incident was noticed by a UEFA observer stationed in the stands.
Upon learning about the situation, UEFA promptly launched an inquiry. Both FIFA and UEFA have a strict zero-tolerance policy towards racist behavior. The Serbian fan in question might face consequences due to this action.
