On June 16, according to a police report from Hamburg, a man was shot by the police on the same afternoon after appearing near a gathering of Dutch football fans while wielding an axe and a fire-producing device. Attempting to harm the fans present, he was eventually brought down by gunfire.
Initially, the police had attempted to use tear gas to subdue the assailant. However, as the situation escalated, they resorted to shooting the individual in order to ensure the safety of the fans. Four gunshots were reportedly heard in the vicinity. The Hamburg police stated that the man is currently in critical condition and receiving urgent medical attention.
