On June 19, according to Mundo Deportivo, La Liga’s Girona and Portuguese side Braga are in advanced talks regarding the signing of Abel Ruiz.
The Spanish forward has been on Girona’s radar since January last year and fits the profile of the new striker the club is seeking.
The negotiations between the clubs are in their final stages, with a transfer fee potentially reaching €8 million. Abel has been a key player for Braga and was included in Spain’s men’s football squad for the Paris Olympics qualifiers this summer.
The Valencia-born forward’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, which led Braga to be initially reluctant to discuss his departure. However, they have now agreed to sell him to Girona, who aim to reinforce their attack, anticipating potential departures of forwards this summer.
Last season, the forward made 48 appearances across all competitions for Braga, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists.
