June 16 – According to an official UEFA announcement, Italian referee Marco Giada will be in charge of Cristiano Ronaldo’s first group stage match at this edition of the European Championship, as Portugal faces the Czech Republic.
The first round of Group F matches sees Portugal taking on the Czech Republic on June 19 at 03:00. UEFA has now disclosed the refereeing appointments, with Italian referee Marco Giada named as the main official for the encounter. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will also be Italian, Ilari Ahola, while the fourth official is Slovenian, Slavko Obrevenović.
In the past, Giada has officiated only two Portuguese national team matches.
