In the first round of Group A matches at the Euros, Germany secured a convincing 5-1 victory over ten-man Scotland. After the match, Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke to the media.
Nagelsmann told ITV, “I’m very happy, I’m very satisfied. The first game in our own country is not easy. We played outstandingly for the first 20 minutes, and I’m pleased with that performance.”
“We did concede a goal, but the result was still good. It’s a positive sign that the players were unhappy with the goal. I was a bit surprised that Scotland wasn’t as intense in the first 20 minutes. I think they were shocked by our ball possession and our focus was excellent. Then they defended deeper and didn’t press as high up the field as they did in the previous qualifiers.”
