According to an official report from Changchun Yatai Football Club, with China’s thrilling qualification for the Asia zone’s 18-team World Cup playoffs, the second three-week break of the Chinese Super League (CSL) is coming to an end. On June 15, the 2024华润怡宝 CSL will resume, with Changchun Yatai traveling to Hangzhou to face Zhejiang FC. On the evening of June 13, Manager Xie Hui assembled his squad and arrived in杭州, officially marking the start of a challenging two-week period with four matches.
Since the beginning of the second break, Manager Xie Hui has been addressing issues such as injuries, positions, tactics, and mentality that arose during the first 14 rounds of the league. After three weeks of adjustment, the team aims to present a refreshed image in their mid-season finale against Zhejiang FC.
During preparations, Changchun Yatai played a friendly match against Shanghai Shenhua in Shanghai and then held an internal friendly against their own Changchun Yatai U21 team. These matches were intended to maintain the rhythm of a weekly competitive game and to uncover potential within the squad, hoping to discover more young talents like He Yiran.
Facing a grueling schedule of four matches in 15 days – away games against Zhejiang on June 15 and Shaanxi United (in the fourth round of the FA Cup) on June 21, followed by home fixtures against Shandong Taishan on June 26 and Qingdao Haibao on June 30 – Changchun Yatai has made specific preparations in terms of physical conditioning and squad rotation. The club hopes to navigate this difficult period with the current players’ form intact.
