In the first round of Group A in the Euro Cup, Florian Wirtz came off the bench to score, helping Germany secure a 5-1 victory over Scotland and starting their campaign with a bang.
Wirtz entered the match in the 63rd minute and just five minutes later, he unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box, sending the ball into the top corner. It was reported that his fierce shot reached a speed of 111 kilometers per hour.
On another note, this is Wirtz’s third goal as a substitute in major international tournaments (Euro Cup/World Cup), tying him with László Kísz of Hungary, Rui Costa of Portugal, and André Schürrle of Germany, who also scored three goals each coming off the bench. In the 2022 World Cup group stage, Wirtz scored once as a substitute against both Spain and Costa Rica.
