On August 7th, during an interview with French media RMC, when asked if France’s Olympic team coach Thierry Henry could potentially succeed Didier Deschamps as the captain of the French national team, FFF President Philippe Diallo did not refuse.
Philippe Diallo said, “When I appointed him to this position, some people were skeptical about what he had done before. I have confidence in him, and he is proving that.”
This Saturday at midnight, the French Olympic team will face Spain at the Parc des Princes. The last time French football won an Olympic gold medal was in 1984. Philippe Diallo said, “We still need to compete for the gold medal, his (Henry’s) focus is on this goal. There is still this step to take, next year there will be the European Under-21 Championship, which he will face as a new challenge, each step must be taken before discussing anything else.”
