At 20:30 on September 1st, the third round of the Premier League will see Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to the transfer deadline day, Spurs manager Postecoglou attended a press conference and addressed the team’s injury issues.
[Latest Team News]
Postecoglou: Solanke is close to returning, but we’ve decided to handle it conservatively and cautiously; he won’t be playing in the international match. Bentancur is recovering well and is already able to train with the team; Richarlison has suffered a muscle strain and will be out for several weeks.
[Europa League Draw]
Postecoglou: Very excited. It’s great to be involved and participate in such a fantastic competition. I’m popular at Ibrox (Rangers’ home ground), they’ll look forward to seeing me.
[Team Squad]
Postecoglou: If nothing else happens, a few players might leave, and I think this has been a positive transfer window.
[Result Against Newcastle Last Year]
Postecoglou: At home, we performed very well (4-1 win), but away, our performance wasn’t good (0-4 loss). That game was a great learning opportunity for us because we started off well, but then we conceded a goal, which might have been the first time this year that we lost our composure during a game. Obviously, we want to learn from it, but it’s still going to be a tough match. Anytime you go to play against Newcastle, it’s a tough game. They have some excellent players in their team, and they are well-drilled, which will be a huge challenge for us.
