According to The Guardian, Arsenal has rejected an offer from Al Ittihad Jeddah to loan Leandro Trossard for a season, insisting that they have no intention of letting the Belgian striker leave.
It is understood that the Saudi club proposed to pay £4 million to loan Trossard and then buy him for £25 million. However, this proposal was quickly rejected by Arsenal as they consider the 29-year-old player an important member of their team, despite having signed Sterling on loan from Chelsea on the last day of the Premier League transfer window.
The transfer windows for the Saudi Professional League and several European leagues will close on Monday. Al Ittihad Jeddah hopes to sign Trossard at the last minute, to play alongside Moussa Diaby, who was signed from Villa for €60 million.
Al Ittihad Jeddah’s loan-to-buy offer lacked sincerity; for Arsenal, this price was too low and not worth considering, especially given that there won’t be an opportunity to sign a replacement for Trossard until January.
Since the start of last season, Trossard has scored 18 goals for Arsenal in all competitions and is seen as a key member of Arteta’s squad. Arsenal also spent £27 million when they brought Trossard in from Brighton.
