Simon Kjær, the 35-year-old Danish central defender, formally announced in an interview that he will be retiring from the Denmark national team.
Kjær made 20 appearances for Milan last season but failed to secure a contract renewal, leaving the club as a free agent when his contract expired at the end of June. Currently, Kjær has not yet found a new team.
In an interview with the media, Kjær stated that he will be retiring from the Denmark national team, bringing to an end his 15-year international career. Since being selected for the national team in 2009, Kjær has never missed a major tournament for Denmark, participating in three World Cups and three European Championships, making a total of 132 appearances and becoming a stalwart and defensive leader for Denmark.
