On August 30, according to multiple sources including César Luis Merlo, Liverpool are interested in bringing in Porto midfielder Alan Barrella before the summer transfer window closes; however, there has been no official contact between the two clubs yet.
Alan Barrella is currently 23 years old, stands at 177cm tall, and is a defensive midfielder from Argentina. Last season, he made 44 appearances for Porto across all competitions, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists.
It is understood that Porto are not willing to sell Barrella, so the only way Liverpool might be able to bring him in would be by triggering his €65 million release clause.
According to subsequent reports by Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have not yet made contact with Porto as of now. The summer transfer window deadline is approaching at midnight on August 31, and whether or not to sign this player by paying the release clause is something Liverpool need to decide today.
