Brazilian media geglobo published an article today stating that after signing Cancelo, Al-Nassr’s foreign player quota is now full. If no one leaves the team before the transfer window closes, Neymar may not be registered for this season’s winter window.
According to Saudi League rules, each team can register a total of 8 foreign players. Currently, apart from Neymar, the foreign players in Al-Nassr’s squad include: Bono, Cancelo, Lodi, Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic, Neves, Mitrovic, and Malcom.
In addition to the newly arrived Cancelo, the other seven are regular starters for the team. If none of these players leave or have their registrations revoked, it means that Neymar will not be able to play for Al-Nassr in the league before the winter window.
It is worth noting that there is no limit on the number of foreign players for the new season’s Asian Elite Cup, so there is a possibility that Neymar or one of the other foreign players in Al-Nassr might not participate in the league but only play in continental tournaments.
Since joining Al-Nassr last year, Neymar has only made 5 appearances for the team, scoring 1 goal, and has been out of action due to injury for a long time. However, he has already won 4 titles with the team.
