August 22, according to Spanish media Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona continues to seek the acquisition of a winger during the transfer window, but Sterling is not within their considerations.
The report states that Barcelona continues to search for a winger in the market, with Leao, Chiesa Jr., and Kingsley Coman being the main targets. However, the 29-year-old Chelsea player Sterling does not appear on Barcelona’s list of future candidates, as he is one of the players ‘discarded’ by Chelsea this summer.
Sterling was left out of the squad for Chelsea’s Premier League debut, prompting his team to demand clarification of his role within Malesc’s team. Malesc responded to this ahead of the Europa League match against Servette, admitting, “I told Sterling it would be difficult for him to get playing time with us; I’m not saying he isn’t a good player.”
Despite Sterling’s contract with Chelsea lasting until 2027, the winger is looking for a new destination for this season, but Barcelona are not interested, even though Stamford Bridge would make his departure easier.
