On September 6, Bayern Munich’s sporting director Eber expressed deep disappointment that Musiala was not included in the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, stating that it is incomprehensible how he could be part of the Euro best XI but fail to make the Ballon d’Or list.
When talking about Musiala’s exclusion from the 30-man Ballon d’Or list, Eber said he was at a loss: “I am happy for every player nominated for the Ballon d’Or, but I remain astonished that Musiala did not make this list. During the Euros, Musiala was co-top scorer and was also named in the best XI of the tournament. Additionally, Bayern’s advancement to the Champions League semi-finals was significantly due to Musiala’s outstanding performances.”
Eber continued: “It is also unfathomable to me that Musiala did not even make the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or. In my view, Musiala is one of the most captivating players in international football, possessing exceptional and unique abilities. The work he has done for Bayern and the German national team makes us immensely proud.”
