According to an exclusive report by The Sun today, Brentford has been forced to reduce Ivan Toney’s asking price by £30 million due to a lack of interest from top clubs. His current valuation now stands at less than £50 million.
Previously, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United had all clearly stated to Brentford that they have no plans to sign Toney at the moment. Currently, only Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United remain as potential destinations for Toney.
After his return this year, Brentford had listed Toney for sale with a price tag of £80 million. However, during the transfer window, no club made an offer for Toney, which came as quite a surprise to Brentford.
Brentford had already found a replacement for Toney and had been planning for his departure for almost a year. Toney himself also hoped to leave Brentford this summer to join a more competitive team.
However, the current situation is that Toney is struggling to attract interest from major clubs. With just one year remaining on his contract, if he doesn’t transfer in the summer window, he will be able to leave as a free agent next year.
